Separating personal profile reach from company Page results

Keep LinkedIn member and company Page analytics distinct, label paid distribution and avoid unsupported combined-reach claims.

Keep LinkedIn member-post results and company Page-post results on separate lines, labelled with the identity that published each. Record the displayed metric names and values, reporting period and any organic or sponsored/paid distribution label shown. Impressions count appearances; Members Reached counts unique viewers, so the measures are not interchangeable.

Identify who published each post

For company Page results, open the Work icon, select the Page and go to Analytics. Page analytics requires Admin or Analyst access, and LinkedIn provides an export for Page analytics. In Page content analytics, copy the metric names and values as displayed.

For a member post, the author can open its analytics from the chart icon beneath the post. Post analytics can include impressions, reactions, comments, shares and clicks; include figures only if the author shares them. Ask before adding a member’s figures to an organisational report.

Use one reporting line per contribution. For a Page post shared with a member’s commentary, record the Page post and the member’s contribution separately because they have different publishing identities.

Reporting Requirements for LinkedIn Analytics

  • Company Page AccessAdmin or Analyst access required; export available via Work icon > Page > Analytics
  • Member Post AccessAuthor can view analytics via chart icon under post; figures only included if shared

Compare within each reporting line

Company Page — publishing identity: [Page name]; post and date: [subject, date]; period: [reporting period]; results: copy the displayed metric names and values from Page content analytics. Named LinkedIn post measures include impressions, Members Reached and engagements such as reactions, comments and reposts; use them on this line only when they appear in the Page report.

LinkedIn member — publishing identity: [member name]; post and date: [subject, date]; period: [reporting period]; results: post impressions, reactions, comments, shares and clicks, if available and shared by the author.

Keep the reporting period and distribution label clear on each line. Record organic or sponsored/paid distribution only where that label is shown, and compare figures only when their definitions and periods are compatible.

Members Reached is a unique-viewer measure; impressions count the total times content appears. A larger figure alone does not make a better contribution: compare each post with its own purpose.

Key Metrics: Impressions vs Members Reached

Impressions
Total appearances of content
Members Reached
Unique viewers of content

Describe the relationship accurately

For a hypothetical process change, the Page might explain what clients need to know while a willing employee discusses a general decision principle. Keep the observed results on their separate, identity-labelled lines. If the author does not share analytics, record that the figures are unavailable rather than inferring performance.

A person may see both posts, but separate Page and member reports do not identify or deduplicate that person across the two identities. Adding their figures therefore cannot establish a distinct audience total or support a combined-reach claim.

Combining Personal and Company Reach: Pros and Cons

  • ProsProvides a holistic view of internal content amplification; useful for team performance reviews
  • ConsCannot deduplicate unique viewers across identities; risks unsupported combined-reach claims; may misrepresent audience size
